Michigan Publishes Every Fee It Charges. Inc Authority Publishes One.

Get resident agent representation in Michigan for $99 annually. The price covers the registered office address, same-day scanning of legal documents, and state-deadline alerts.

Read this knowing the source. MI Registered Agent.org competes with Inc Authority for the same appointment and charges $99 a year to hold it, so the page is argued by an interested party. The subject here happens to be a missing number, which makes inventing one self-defeating. We have not, and we say plainly where the gap sits.

A Free Year Is a Free Year

Inc Authority hands formation customers a full year of registered agent coverage without charging for it, and the offer holds up on inspection. We looked for the usual conditions attached to giveaways in this industry, an activation charge, a term shorter than the headline suggests, a clause clawing the value back if you leave early, and none of them were stated. A brand new company gets a legally required service for nothing during the twelve months when it has the least money to spend. Whatever else this page argues, that part is a genuine benefit and worth naming first.

Year Two Has No Number

Then the gap opens. Inc Authority does not publish what agent service costs once the free year ends. During a July 2026 review we read the pages a renewal price would normally occupy, the packages listing, the FAQ, and the front page, and no figure appeared on any of them. Going by how this market usually operates, the number surfaces at the order screen or when a representative quotes it on a call.

Filling that blank with a plausible estimate would be easy and would wreck the argument, so the blank stays. The structural point stands without it. A Michigan LLC has to keep a resident agent on file for its entire life, so the renewal is the price actually governing the arrangement, and a renewal nobody prints leaves the comparison half finished.

Set that against the disclosure habits of the other party in the arrangement. Michigan posts what it charges down to the individual form: $50 to file Articles of Organization, $5 to record a change of resident agent, $25 for a standard LLC annual statement each February 15, $75 for the different annual report a professional LLC files on Form CSCL/CD-2701, $10 a month once a statement runs late. You can price a decade of Michigan compliance off a published schedule before spending a dollar. The state has no competitor, no marketing department, and no reason to court you, and it prints all of it anyway. A company competing for your business declines to print one figure.

$99 now and $99 later, neither of them waiting on a phone call. Around the price: same-day scans of served documents posted to your portal with an email alert, our street address on the public resident agent line in place of yours, and a reminder before the February 15 statement comes due. Ordinary business mail can be scanned too, at $15 for each piece, the sole optional line anywhere in the account. Everything in that paragraph is readable today, which is the entire comparison this page is making.

Lowest price in Michigan? No. BetterLegal advertises $90 a year and we are not going to talk around it on a page about disclosure. Our position is that $99 belongs in the lowest band of flat Michigan pricing, and that on this page nine dollars is not the interesting part anyway. Both of our figures exist in writing. That is the interesting part.

The Michigan Filing That Retires Inc Authority

One document and five dollars: the $5 certificate, CSCL/CD-520, filed with Michigan's Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, replaces the resident agent of record, and there is no second form waiting behind it. The only rule about order is that the incoming agent has to be lined up first, since the certificate names that agent and the outgoing one keeps the seat until the state posts the change, which is how your record stays covered from one day to the next. Complete detail sits on our change of agent page.

Handle it during the free year rather than after it, and the unpublished renewal never becomes your problem to discover.
