Bizee's Free Months End on Bizee's Calendar, Not Michigan's

Get resident agent representation in Michigan for $99 annually. The price covers the registered office address, same-day scanning of legal documents, and state-deadline alerts.

A word on who is speaking. MI Registered Agent.org is a Michigan resident agent service charging $99 a year, writing about a company that sells the same coverage. Nobody in that arrangement is disinterested, and you should read the page with that in mind. Bizee's figures are Bizee's published figures rather than our characterization of them.

The Formation Bundle Is Worth Real Money

Bizee, the company formerly trading as Incfile, includes registered agent coverage with its LLC formation packages at no separate charge, and the covered period depends on the tier purchased, running as little as a quarter or as long as a full year. For an owner forming a Michigan LLC anyway, that is a required service handed over for nothing during the period when cash is tightest. Michigan charges $50 to file Articles of Organization under MCL 450.4202, and a formation vendor absorbing the agent fee on top of that is offering something with a defensible dollar value. We do not bundle anything, because formation is not a service we sell.

The Catch Is a Date, Not a Price

When the included months run out, standalone billing starts at $149 a year. That figure is published and reasonable enough by industry standards. The structural problem is that the transition from free to $149 happens on a date the customer has to remember, and the customer is the only party in the relationship with any incentive to remember it.

Michigan makes this worse in a specific and under-appreciated way. The state's compliance calendar has exactly one recurring date on it for an LLC, February 15, when the annual statement is due. But an LLC brought into existence after September 30 owes nothing on the February 15 arriving a few months later; its first statement is not due until the February after that. So a company formed in October or November spends roughly fifteen months without a single state deadline prompting the owner to look at the record. That silent stretch is the same stretch a three-month or twelve-month free agent window burns through unnoticed. The bundle expires, the invoice changes shape, and nothing on the state calendar rings to make anyone check.

$99 buys a year of Michigan resident agent service and the following year costs the same $99, which is the entire pricing story. Legal documents delivered to our Michigan office are scanned the day they arrive, with an alert sent to your inbox as soon as the file posts. The resident agent line on your public record shows our street address instead of yours. The annual statement deadline is flagged for you well ahead of February 15. Nothing in the account converts to a different rate later, because there is no later rate to convert to.

We are not the lowest sticker in Michigan and will not suggest otherwise. BetterLegal advertises $90 annually. Our honest position is that $99 belongs among the lowest flat annual prices in this state and comes with a renewal you can predict years out, which is the part a bundled free period cannot promise.

Michigan Paperwork for the Bizee Handover

The entire procedure is one document and five dollars. The CSCL/CD-520 certificate, filed with LARA, the agency that keeps Michigan's entity records, replaces the resident agent on file. Get the replacement signed up before you send it, because the certificate names the incoming agent and Bizee holds the seat until the state enters the change; handled in that order, there is never a day when nobody is on file for your company. Our change of agent walkthrough sets out the certificate, both submission channels, and what LARA does with it.

The timing advice is short: do it inside the free window rather than after it. Nothing about a bundled period obliges you to stay for its duration, and a switch filed in month two of a twelve-month giveaway costs the same five dollars as one filed in month thirteen, minus the surprise invoice.
